What are the Benefits
of a Home Birth?
Benefits of a home birth include being in a familiar and comfortable environment, having more control over your birthing experience, and potentially having a lower rate of medical interventions (8% cesarean section rate for home births versus national hospital average being 34%).
What if There is an Emergency During a Home Birth?

Even though this isn't a common occurrence, midwives are prepared for emergencies with equipment and training to handle common complications like postpartum hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, and newborn resuscitation. We have plans in place for transfer to a hospital if that situation occurs.

What are Pain Relief Options
Available for a Home Birth?

Our team offers a variety of natural pain relief techniques such as water immersion, massage, sterile water injections for back labor, and breathing exercises. Your body creates natural pain relieving hormones called endorphins that kick in with a calm, supportive environment during labor. We also loan out a birthing tub that greatly decreases the pain perception during birth.
What Does Care After a
Home Birth Look Like?

The midwifery team stays at your home after birth for about 3-4hrs to make sure you and baby are doing well. There is one home visit about 24 hours after birth and four other office visits to check on the family. We take care of the clients and baby for the first six weeks after birth. Part of our time together is answering all your questions and any concerns you may have.

How Much Care Costs with Attuned Midwifery Services?

Our global cash rate is $4,500 and includes comprehensive prenatal care, home birth, and postpartum support through 6 weeks for both client and baby. We are only in-network with New Mexico Medicaid; no other insurance plans are billed or accepted at this time. We're happy to walk you through the details and discuss your options.
Is Home Birth a
Safe Option for Me?

Research shows that for low-risk pregnancies attended by trained professionals, home birth can be as safe as hospital birth. We prioritize safety by ensuring thorough planning and having skilled midwives present with proper equipment and certifications to handle those rare emergencies.
Who is Considered a Great Candidate for a Home Birth?

Home birth is generally suitable for families with low-risk pregnancies who are in good health and have had a complication free pregnancy. There are some medical conditions that still allow for a home birth with a skilled midwife like diet controlled gestational diabetes, VBACs, and thyroid disease.
